Intersection and Flattening of Surfaces in 3D Models through Computer-Extended Descriptive Geometry (CeDG)

چکیده

Computer-extended Descriptive Geometry (CeDG) is a new approach to solving and building computer models of three-dimensional (3D) geometrical systems through descriptive geometry procedures (thus inheriting invariant-symmetry properties from projective geometry) that have demonstrated reliability accuracy. CeDG may calculate parametric implicit functional form for the spatial curves generated in intersection two surfaces, as well flattened pattern any developable surface involved those encounters. This study first presents theoretical foundations methodology curves. Secondly, compound hopper defined modeled (implemented GeoGebra) CAD (Solid Edge© 2023) approaches evaluate advantages against CAD. The results demonstrate robustness accuracy technique he flattening surfaces Solid Edge 2023 case study.

Computer Vision, Descriptive Geometry, and Classical Mechanics

The medial-axis transform, also called skeleton, is a shape abstraction proposed by computer vision. The concept is closely related to cyclographic maps, a tool developed by descriptive geometry to investigate distance functions, and to the solu tion of the eikonal equation. We discuss these connections and their implications on techniques for computing the skeleton.

Descriptive Geometry Meets Computer Vision — the Geometry of Multiple Images

The geometry of multiple images has been a standard topic in Descriptive Geometry and Photogrammetry (Remote Sensing) for more than 100 years. During the last twenty years great progress has been made within the field of Computer Vision, a topic with the main goal to endow a computer with a sense of vision. The previously graphical or mechanical methods of reconstruction have been replaced by m...

Fast Flattening Algorithm for Non-developable 3D Surfaces

 This paper addresses the problem of deriving 2D patterns from triangulated 3D surfaces. Unfolding 3D surfaces into 2D patterns plays an important role in CAD/CAM systems for most industry applications, such as shoe making, apparel manufacturing, or curved ducts (pipes) production, and most of its solutions usually need a large amount of computations. Thus, to speed up the unfolding process wo...

Exact intersection of 3D geometric models

This paper presents 3D-EPUG-OVERLAY, an exact and parallel algorithm for computing the intersection of 3D triangulated meshes, a problem with applications in several fields such as GIS and CAD. 3D-EPUG-OVERLAY presents several innovations: it employs exact arithmetic and, thus, the computations are completely exact, which avoids topological impossibilities that are often created by floating poi...

Flattening 3D objects

One important research area in Non-Photorealistic Rendering is to obtain silhouettes. There are many methods to obtain silhouettes from 3d models and raster structures, but they are limited in their ability to draw stylized silhouettes with complete flexibility. These limitations do not exist in illustration, as each element is plane and the interaction between them can be eliminated locating e...
